A new international professional event, Sähkö–Electricity, will open at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Center on April 15–17, 2026, becoming the largest electrical industry trade fair in Finland in the 21st century. The exhibition space covers 33,000 m² + 1,000 m² for the Electrical Circuit student event and recruitment fair. This is equivalent to almost five FIFA-standard soccer fields.

The event, which has been long awaited in the capital region, has attracted the most important players in the industry, such as ABB, Ahlsell, Airam, Siemens, and Sonepar, who are participating in the planning of the event. More than 250 exhibitors are involved, and the original exhibition plan has been expanded. The aim of the event is to become one of the largest professional events in the Nordic electrical industry already in its first year.

"The capital region has long been in need of an international electrical industry event that brings together all the players in the industry, from designers to contractors and procurement decision-makers, and now it is happening," says Mika Höijer, CEO of Sonepar.

The three-day Sähkö–Electricity fair will showcase a wide range of electrical technology solutions and services. The green transition and rapid development of electrical technology will be prominently featured at the event, for example in the form of electric transport solutions and lighting, which is always a hot topic. The event covers the entire industry, from energy, lighting, construction, and automation to importers, manufacturers, and wholesalers.

"Electrification and automation solutions are today's enablers of the green transition in the construction and industrial sectors. At the fair, we will focus on presenting the latest solutions and technologies. The timing and location create the perfect setting for a successful event," says Mikko Mäkäräinen, Business Manager at ABB Electrification.

A high-quality program and an exciting experience make the event unique

A building frame will be constructed at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre, where exhibitors will demonstrate the latest electrical technology. In the robot room, visitors can meet the humanoid Arska, the Robot, in person. A light art installation designed for the event will add to the atmosphere and give visible form to electrical energy. Virtapiiri and Rekrytor will bring together students, job seekers, and companies.

"The facilities and experience of the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre make it possible to include exciting and interactive special areas in the event, such as the Virtapiiri for electrical engineering students. Networking is also a key part of this event, and entertainment will not be forgotten either. The event will be accompanied by an exciting Afterwork," promises Kirsi Koivula, Business Manager at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The Sähkö–Electricity trade fair is aimed at designers, architects, consultants, and professionals in the field, such as contractors, industry, property owners, investors, service and maintenance professionals, and international visitors.
