There are opportunities in the electrical industry – future technology requires designers and experts

Published

The electrical industry is growing and diversifying rapidly, and there are more and more opportunities for future experts in construction, automation, energy technology, and smart systems. Sähkö–Electricity 26, to be held in April, will showcase the entire industry and career paths.

The electrical industry is not just about cables and circuits: it is one of the most important technological platforms in society, keeping everyday life running smoothly, industry efficient, and the energy economy sustainable. Energy, lighting, automation, construction, ICT networks, and smart electrical systems are just part of a broad whole that needs skilled professionals now and in the future.

In the construction industry, electrical technology is an integral part of project design and implementation, energy systems require experts, automation technology is revolutionizing industry, and the growth of renewable energy solutions is creating new jobs every day. This means that there are jobs available for electrical professionals in the short and long term in design, wholesale, and implementation.

Electrical Circuit connects students to electrical industry networks and career opportunities

A career path in the electrical industry can be diverse and surprising: a simple electrician's job can lead to roles in design, project management, energy solutions consulting, or technology expertise in export companies or wholesale.

"The industry needs engineers as well as energy and automation technology experts – and their understanding and networks begin to develop during their studies," says Sallamaari Muhonen, CEO of the Finnish Electrotechnical Trade Association.

The Electrical Ciruit area, which will be held for the first time at the Sähkö–Electricity professional event in April, is designed specifically for electrical and automation engineering students. In this area, manufacturers, importers, and wholesalers will showcase their products and solutions, and visitors will be able to safely explore the functionality and installability of the equipment without any electrical tension. At the same time, students will have the opportunity to talk directly with companies in the field about different career paths, expert and design tasks, and the kind of technical skills that are valued in the workplace.

A wide range of career paths in the electrical industry – from electrical engineer to influencer

A degree in electrical engineering opens doors to many roles:

Success in these roles requires technical expertise, an understanding of systems, and the ability to apply what you have learned to new challenges – skills that the Electrical Circuit and the Sähkö–Electricity 26 professional event highlight in concrete terms. Student groups have their own scheduled opportunity to visit Electrical Circuit.

Sähkö–Electricity has over 250 exhibitors and 34,000 m2 of exhibition space, including a large number of the industry's most significant players, such as ABB, Ahlsell, Airam, Siemens, and Sonepar, who will be presenting their own innovations and solutions. The technology and expertise of these companies will give you a good idea of the environments in which electrical engineers work, both in Finland and globally.

The first day of the event, April 15, is Future Employer Day, when HR experts from the companies will also be present to discuss job and career opportunities. Register for the event!
