The magnetic pull of the world of distribution boards - the birth of ATRAX Power

Published

ATRAX Power was born when two experienced professionals returned to an industry that they simply could not leave behind. There is now a completely new series of distribution boards on the market.

The Finnish distribution board manufacturer, ATRAX Power, socket-outlet distribution boards, distribution boards for construction sites and distribution boards for various construction, industry and storage sites. The company is new, but it has strong experience in electrical products.

The company’s founders, Tomi Nikkola and Toni Rehnbäck, are long-time entrepreneurs in the distribution board industry. “We thought we wouldn't make distribution boards anymore in the future – but never say never. We managed to stay out of the industry for five years, but it inevitably pulled us back. The comeback was a bigger surprise to us than to our customers and partners,” say Nikkola and Rehnbäck.

During the time away, Nikkola and Rehnbäck had time to buy, sell, rent and repair industrial halls and set up the IRON8 golf centre, but the corners and sheet metal pieces of distribution boards slowly crept into the minds of the tinkerers. There was no other choice but to start sketching out new products on screen paper.

“Our company started from scratch. We’ve purchased everything, from staplers to whatnot, and in 2024, we made the first prototypes. The production of the first distribution boards proved that there was potential there for actual products. We received the first order in November 2025, before we even had time to start marketing, and now our products are already available from Onninen. We challenge the market with new products that have smaller sizes and rated currents. We’re targeting gaps that haven’t yet been filled,” says Nikkola.

The company’s goal is to make the distribution boards as high-quality, durable and easy to install as possible. The applications of the distribution boards are industry, construction sites and other sites where safe electricity distribution is required. The company is based in Paimio, where the products are also designed and manufactured. According to the duo, the current hall allows for considerable growth, as needed.

“The steel housings are manufactured by a subcontractor located a couple of hundred metres away from us, and all the electrical components come from Europe.”

The name ATRAX refers to a small venomous spider that lives in Australia. The idea is that even the smallest of us can pack a punch.

"Our philosophy is to offer our customers what they need. The customer saves on total costs when we can offer a distribution board that’s fit for purpose. Lower rated currents in the distribution boards also mean smaller cables. Together, these things reduce the total price of installations and contracts. Distribution boards with a lower rated current are well-suited to most applications.”

Reliable socket-outlet distribution boards

MAX socket-outlet distribution boards are ATRAX Power’s solution to meet the demands of small garages and large industrial environments alike. The MAX socket-outlet distribution board series covers even the most demanding needs. Smaller, single-module distribution boards are suitable for applications where small size with comprehensive features is required. The two-module distribution boards provide additional space for own components and, if necessary, more socket outlets. The distribution boards have good connection spaces and feedthroughs, and a canopy is available separately. The rated currents are 16, 32 or 63 amps depending on the purpose and requirements.

Sustainable distribution boards for construction sites

Designed for professional use, the ALEX distribution boards for constructions sites represent ATRAX’s mobile distribution board series. The distribution boards are intended for construction sites and other sites where mobile electricity supply is required. The mobile distribution boards are equipped with legs, carrying handles, a canopy and hanging hooks for effortless mobility and use on site. The construction site distribution board series includes 16, 32 and 63 amp models. The series of products is constantly being developed, and more products will be added in the future.

High-quality distribution boards

EMMA distribution boards are intended for fixed installations. The distribution boards are surface-mounted. The series is designed to provide a cost-effective yet durable solution for a variety of small and medium-sized applications, such as warehouses or garage electrification. High-quality European components guarantee a sustainable solution for distribution board installations.

Dream of going international

ATRAX Power emphasises continuous product development and a customer-oriented approach. It aims to develop solutions that meet the daily needs of installers and end-users: the distribution boards are easy to handle, have a clear structure and are designed to withstand heavy use.

Nikkola and Rehnbäck, electricians through and through, also have their eyes set on strong growth in the future: “We know the market and we don't expect to make a quick profit. The market and economy are challenging, but we’re up for the challenge. We’re constantly developing new products and product families. Now in the first phase, we’re launching basic models. In the future, we’ll supplement the existing series according to demand and develop new ones. Our dream for the future is internationalisation across the Nordic market, and why not even the German market. We already designed the current products with an eye on them. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
